Upcoming Service Interruption Coupeville/Port Townsend route

There will be no ferry service between Coupeville and Port Townsend on November 5 and 6, 2016 in order to complete work on the terminal at the Keystone dock. Although it is planned that service will be available on November 7, no reservations will be available that day, in case the construction takes longer than anticipated.

7/15/16: Additional information about interisland service

WSF has discovered a problem with an emergency shutdown device on the M/V Klahowya’s engine, and all inter-island sailings have been cancelled until further notice. Crews have dispatched to repair the vessel, but inter-island travel will be extremely limited for the remainder of the service day. We apologize for the inconvenience. Note: Inter-island service is reflected by the light blue background on the printed schedule.

To help accommodate travel between islands, WSF has coordinated several additional sailings with other vessels on this route:

ELWHA: Eastbound from Friday Harbor – There will be an additional 2:40 pm sailing from Orcas Island, 2:50 pmfrom Shaw and 3:20 pm from Lopez, arriving in Anacortes at 4:00 pm (estimated one hour behind schedule.)

Additionally, the 6:30 pm from Friday Harbor will make extra stops: 7:15 pm from Orcas, 7:30 pm from Shaw and7:50 pm from Lopez, arriving in Anacortes at 8:35 pm (estimated one hour behind schedule.)

YAKIMA: Westbound from Anacortes – Yakima will leave Anacortes at 5:10 pm, making extra stops at Shaw, Orcas and Friday Harbor.  Additional stops will occur at 5:50 pm from Lopez, 6:10 pm from Shaw and 6:30 pm from Orcas, arriving in Friday Harbor at 7:10 pm.

Reservation holders will be able to sail on their reserved sailings, though some boats may be late due to making extra inter-island stops. Reservations were relaxed as a precaution. No penalty for no-shows. We will send notification as necessary.

Passengers will be taken on a first come, first served basis, and there might not be space. Arrive early for the added sailings. Walk on space available on all sailings.

Service Interruption – 3/8/16

The Yakima is broken down and out of service for the time being. Compounding the problem is that vessels are currently unable to arrive to and depart from the Friday Harbor terminal because the Yakima is stuck there.  A tug has been dispatched to move the ferry, however, this could  take approximately 3 hours.  For further updates, check the WSF website at http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries.

Elwha will be out of service on Dec. 29, 2015

The following bulletin was just sent out by WSF. It appears they are trying to get a replacement vessel, but in the meantime, several runs affecting all four islands have been canceled tomorrow.

The Elwha will not be repaired in time for morning service Tuesday, December 29. The following westbound sailings from Anacortes are cancelled: 4:30am to Friday Harbor, 7:40am to Shaw and Orcas, and 10:20am to Lopez and Friday Harbor. The following eastbound sailings are cancelled: 5:55am and 12:10pm from Friday Harbor, 6:40am and 12:55pm from Lopez, 8:55am from Orcas and the 9:10amfrom Shaw.

Customers with reservations on these sailings will be prioritized on a first come, first serve basis on other sailings with other reservation holders ahead of those without a reservation. New reservations for Tuesday, Dec. 29 are blocked. Tuesday reservation holders choosing not to travel will not be penalized a “no show fee.” WSF is working to move a replacement vessel to the islands as soon as possible.
