This month’s FAC meeting (San Juan County) is being held from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the County meeting room at Orcas Landing, which is located just west of the ferry dock. To walk to the meeting room from the ferry dock, go west and down the driveway to the lower building at the county dock. The door to the meeting room is on the west side.
The agenda is posted here. Topics include an update from the WA Transportation Commission, a report on the recent FCP meeting in Anacortes, and discussion of the proposed Winter schedule. Island residents are encouraged to attend.
Now that the holiday weekend is mostly behind us, please take a few minutes to review the proposed ferry schedule for this fall and give your feedback. Click here to see the original post with links to the schedule and feedback form. Comments are being accepted through July 8.
Our local FAC and WSF are soliciting your comments on the proposed schedule for Fall 2011. You have through July 8 to visit the FAC site and make your remarks. Please review the following press release for more information.
San Juan County Ferry Advisory Committee (FAC) and Washington State Ferries (WSF) have begun reviewing the ferry schedule for this fall, and are seeking public comment through July 8. The proposed schedule is basically the same as the just-completed spring schedule and last fall’s schedule, with some small adjustments in sailing times to relieve congestion, and some changes in vessel assignments.
Each schedule has its particular challenges. The spring and fall schedules represent the “shoulder seasons” for visitors, with traffic varying quite a bit between the beginning and end of the schedules. The reduced traffic is also the opportunity for rotating vessels into the shipyards for needed service. The smaller 96-car Sealth will again serve the islands in place of a 148-car Super, but not until the latter part of the fall schedule when traffic is lower.
The FAC and WSF would very much like to hear from riders regarding the proposed schedule. Constructive comments are especially appreciated, and please remember that boats and dollars remain limited. So asking for more service for one island means someone else winds up with less.
A draft fall schedule will be posted for comment on the WSF website. Links to the proposed schedule in various formats and links for comments can be found on the FAC website, at www.sanjuanco.com/fac.
Anacortes/San Juan Islands/Sidney, B.C. – Summer 2011
We would like your feedback on our proposed summer 2011 sailing schedule for the Anacortes/San Juan Islands/Sidney, B.C. routes. The schedule proposal is the result of close collaboration with the San Juan Islands Ferry Advisory Committee.
Based on customer comments we have received in the past, we are providing the draft summer 2011 proposal in two formats: the standard WSF printed sailing schedule, and a more detailed format showing eastbound vehicle space allocations.
Comments can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. Comments will be accepted until the close of business on Monday, March 14.
