County council takes stand against proposed service reductions

On September 30, the San Juan County Council sent a letter to Governor Inslee regarding proposed reductions in ferry service that will impact Anacortes, the San Juan Islands, and Sydney, BC.     So, using the “logic” of the ferry system, reducing service on the least profitable runs, the next step will be to shut them down. That’s the surest way to avoid losing money.

    Going one step further, let’s stop repairing and building roads and bridges. They also “lose” money.

    Extending the Winter Schedule an additional eight weeks will now include all of the Spring Breaks and also the traditional increase in traffic. The slogan “The Lines End” will become a joke but then again everyone will have a Reservation. Just try to get to the ticket booth. Should be a very interesting scenario. Stay tuned.
