Here are my notes from the Ferry Community Partnership meeting that was held on November 5th in Anacortes:
We had twenty-one participants, with both Representative Jeff Morris and Representative Larry Seaquist attending. In attendance also were representatives from two Ferry Advisory Committees, a member of the Transportation Commission, the Mayor of Friday Harbor, a representative from the Port of Anacortes, and numerous citizens from the Islands.
Rep. Seaquist opened his remarks by saying that the “FCP has become a
serious player – they’re well organized have a clear message.”
For those folks who didn’t have a chance to attend, I’d like to say that the Ferry Community Partnership meetings are an incredible opportunity to hear the “straight scoop” from our legislators. Both Jeff and Larry are strongly committed to supporting the needs of ferry-served communities. They will be introducing important ferry-related legislation this fall and winter, and we will be giving you info on these bills and what you can do to help support them.
We will also announce the next FCP meeting that will be held in Anacortes. This was the fourth meeting that the Ferry Community Partnership has hosted in our area. Their members come up from Vashon, Bremerton, Gig Harbor and other locations to the south. The FCP encourages San Juan Islanders and residents of Anacortes and Whidbey Island to participate.
A big shout out to Kari and Susan for organizing this meeting!
