FCP Meeting in Anacortes March 12

The Ferry Community Partnership (FCP) will hold its regularly scheduled Saturday meeting in Anacortes on March 12. FCP has agreed to change the location for this meeting to make it possible for residents of the San Juan Islands to attend, give their input, and be better informed on actions FCP is taking related to the current situation with the ferries.

When: March 12, 2011 – 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m
Where: Anacortes Public Library, 1220 10th Street Anacortes, WA 98221

This meeting time makes it possible for residents of San Juan, Shaw, Orcas, and Lopez to get to and from the meeting and for FCP reps from down the sound to get there as well.

Ferries to Anacortes:

  • From Friday Harbor: leaves 8:00 a.m., arrives in Anacortes at 9:05
  • From Orcas: leaves 8:50 a.m., arrives in Anacortes at 9:55
  • From Lopez: leaves 9:15 a.m., arrives in Anacortes at 9:55
  • From Shaw: leaves 7:30 a.m., arrives in Anacortes at 8:40

Return ferry:

  • To San Juan: leaves Anacortes at 1:25 p.m.
  • To All Islands: leaves Anacortes at 1:50 p.m.

To coordinate this, we need some information from you. If you plan to attend, please add a comment to this post saying how many people will be in your group. Let us know if you are driving on or if you will need rides to and from the Anacortes library. This is especially important as we may need to coordinate rides from the terminal amongst ourselves or with residents of Anacortes. FCP always offers rides, but the early morning trips to the meeting might be a challenge. Getting back to the ferry terminal after the meeting will not be a problem.

It is important to have a good turn out. The San Juan Islands did a great job in responding to the petition drive in December and January. We need to keep reminding officials at all levels that we care very much about the ferries and decisions made about them that will impact us all.

Is is possible to make the ferry schedule match up with the Anacortes public bus and the skagit bus from MT. Vernon train station??

      Hi Julienne,

We’ve asked the Ferry Advisory Committee about the possibility of coordinating public transportation on the mainland with the ferry schedule. That’s as far as we’ve gotten, but it’s definitely worth bringing up again, perhaps at the March 9 meeting on Lopez.
